Succession Planning and Gender Diversity Remain Core Among its Corporate Governance Mandates

Heirs Holdings, a family-owned pan-African investment company, has made history with its recent management appointments at its investee company, Transcorp Plc, achieving 80% target of women in management positions.

Transcorp Plc joins other Heirs Holdings-backed companies, including its philanthropic arm, Tony Elumelu Foundation, to record a similar milestone.

The recent appointments include an all-female management team – Owen Omogiafo (incoming President/GCEO), Dupe Olusola (incoming CEO, Transcorp Hotels Plc), Helen Iwuchukwu (incoming COO, Transcorp Hotels Plc, and Okaima Ohizua (incoming COO, Transcorp Power) – and the only male in the team, Christopher Ezeafulukwe (incoming CEO, Transcorp Power). All appointments take effect from March 25.

Heirs Holdings prioritises succession planning and gender diversity as chief mandates among its corporate governance metrics. Both metrics position the company’s portfolio for longevity and smooth transition in a rapidly evolving African economy. Across its investee companies, Heirs Holdings identifies and grooms a passionate workforce, who are committed to its purpose of improving lives and transforming Africa.

In the ten years of its existence, Heirs Holdings has recorded business turn-around successes, as well as an impressive expansion of its investment portfolio across Africa, with its investee companies and subsidiaries collectively operating in 21 African countries, UK, USA and France, and employing over 30,000 people.

Heirs Holdings Chairman, Tony O. Elumelu, CON, expressed confidence in the new appointments. He said: “We are delighted by the depth and quality of experience that this leadership team brings to our investment portfolio. These appointments further indicate our internal succession capacity and strong corporate governance practices”.
