Heirs Energies has launched the Agbada Green Corridor Initiative, a tree-planting and eco-system restoration programme designed to strengthen biodiversity, enhance climate resilience and support environmental sustainability across its area of operations, marking the 2026 World Environment Day.
The eco-system restoration exercise, launched along the Agbada Non-Associated Gas (NAG) Corridor in Omuohia Community, was conducted in partnership with the Rivers State Ministry of Environment and the Self Help and Rural Development Association (SHERDA), with support from the OML 17 HCDT and community stakeholders.
Through reforestation and natural carbon sequestration, the initiative strengthens climate resilience, supports biodiversity and creates lasting environmental value in partnership with host communities, while advancing SDG 13 (Climate Action).
Speaking at the launch event, Heirs Energies Senior Vice President, Production, Bola Bode who represented Heirs Energies Chief Executive Officer, Osa Igiehon, noted that the initiative reflects the Company’s commitment to creating lasting value for both its host communities and the environment.
“As we grow our business, we recognise that our success is closely linked to the wellbeing of our host communities. The Agbada Green Corridor Initiative is one expression of our commitment to responsible operations and sustainable development,” he said.
Representatives of the Rivers State Ministry of Environment welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between government, communities and industry in advancing environmental protection and sustainable development.
The Agbada Green Corridor Initiative reflects Heirs Energies’ commitment to integrating environmental stewardship into its operations through initiatives that restore ecosystems, strengthen community partnerships and create long-term environmental value.
The programme also supports Nigeria’s broader energy security ambitions while preserving the environment for future generations.
