It is difficult to put into words what Olumide meant to me. He was not just a colleague; he became my brother and my closest friend. We did almost everything together, so much so that people in the office started calling us “5 & 6.” Whether it was lunch, studying for certifications, or even applying for leave, we were side by side. He was the kind of friend you could tell anything to, knowing you would be heard without judgment.
Olumide was selfless — that is the one word that describes him best. He carried a genuine heart and an open hand, always ready to help anyone around him. He believed in people, sometimes more than they believed in themselves. He was the type to walk up to you and say, “Have you thought of taking this professional exam?” And he wouldn’t just suggest it — he would encourage you to register, share study tips, dig up past questions, and check in on your progress. Even if you were discouraged, Olumide would be there to lift you up. His faith in others was unwavering, and it pushed many of us to aim higher.
In the office, he was my go-to person, no matter the situation. He was consistent in checking up on me and others, always willing to go the extra mile. His cheerful spirit filled our days with laughter, and his calm presence steadied those around him. Just as recently as that Tuesday afternoon, we were making plans together — talking about his MBA dreams, his goals, and our shared aspirations. To think those conversations would be our last is something I am still struggling to accept.
Olumide was a devout Christian whose steady faith shaped everything he did. His kindness and peaceful smile guided others toward all that was good. Professionally, he was a rock — humble, diligent, and marked by integrity. As a member of United Capital Trustees, he distinguished himself through his dedication and promise. He was already pursuing several professional certifications that reflected his drive for excellence and his hunger to grow.
Olumide’s life overflowed with patience, service, and hope. He was full of drive, full of life, and full of laughter. To say I will miss him is an understatement.
I will always cherish the moments we shared, the encouragement, the brotherhood, and the countless ways he touched my life and the lives of many others. Olumide, you live forever in my heart. Thank you for being a blessing — to me, and to all who were privileged to know you. Rest well, my brother and my friend.
