Jesutoni was not just my teammate, she was my very first seatmate and my first real friend at United Capital. I fondly called her “My Fellow Gen Z” and “Junior Corper” because we shared that bond of being young, fresh, and full of energy at work. From the very beginning, Jesutoni stood out as a good Christian with a warm and calm demeanour, always carrying a smile that could brighten the room.
When I joined the Trustees Department, we clicked instantly. In no time, we went from colleagues to genuine friends, even outside the office. We became partners in crime, often teasing our teammates, especially our supervisors and sharing inside jokes that made every day lighter. So, when she was moved to the Compliance Department, I was genuinely sad. I had grown so used to her being by my side, and it was difficult to adjust without her presence beside me each day. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would lose her friendship forever. That thought still hurts deeply.
Jesutoni was young, confident, and brilliant. She was always eager to help with anything, and she carried herself with a quiet intelligence that everyone noticed. Her laughter was infectious, her joy was genuine, and her presence made work feel brighter and easier.
She had so many plans for her future. She was excited about what life had in store for her, and after all the hard work she had put in to become a lawyer, it breaks my heart that she passed before making it to law school.
Jesutoni left a beautiful mark on my life, one I will carry with me always. I will remember her smile, her laughter, and her unwavering friendship. My prayer is that her beautiful soul rests in perfect peace.
Rest on, my dear Fellow Gen Z and Junior Corper.
With love,
Your Senior Corper, Imisioluwa Jegede
