What do people really think about love at work? Do we all rate Valentine’s Day gifting? How exactly do we deal when we’re heartbroken?

I went around asking my colleagues these questions (and more) and their responses had me smiling, empathising or laughing out loud.

Do read and enjoy the vibes too.

1. Favourite love song?

Adedamola: ‘Photograph’ by Ed Sheeran

Idowu: ‘Available’ by LaCrown

Dr Ilori: LOL! ‘I’ll Make Love to You’ by Boyz II Men

Bamidele: Olo Mi by Tosin Martins

Ngozi & Abayomi: ‘Assurance’ by Davido

2. What do you do when heartbroken?

Caren: Ah, prayer o. I pray to God because he’s the only one who can mend my heart. He’s kuku the one who made it.

Adedamola: I listen to Ed Sheeran Songs

Victor: I just listen to music to take my mind off things.

Idowu: I play video games and listen to music.

Dr Ilori: I cry myself to sleep listening to love songs.

Bamidele: I listen to ‘Seven Years’ by Lukas Graham

Ngozi: I’ve never been in that situation before.

Abayomi: I go out with my friends and just chill to get over things.

Mildred: I eat. A lot!

Semola: I cry.

3. Do you catch feelings quickly or slowly?

Caren: Slowly. It’s a gradual process for me. I don’t just fall ‘gbim’.

Adedamola: I want to say I trip but you can say I somersault into love.

Victor: I take my time and get to know the person before the feelings come in.

Idowu: E no dey tey. I dive in headfirst.

Dr Ilori: Head over heels bro.

Ngozi: I always use my head, so I take my time.

Abayomi: Slowly, please. Do people still fall in love?

Mildred: I can crush like mad but serious feelings? Nope.

Semola: I’m emotional so I fall hard.

4. Most ‘interesting’ or Expensive Valentine’s Day gift?

Caren: I’ve never participated in Valentine’s Day gifting, except for when I was in secondary school, then it was a thing. I received a flower, card, and nightwear from my school daughter.

Adedamola: It wasn’t a gift. I was taken out, but it meant a lot to me.

Victor: I got an expensive watch once. It was from a friend though.

Dr Ilori: Ouuuh… I got a nice bottle of perfume that I’d been eyeing for a while.

Ngozi: I got human hair.

Abayomi: I got a Michael Kors wristwatch.

Semola: I’m not a Valentine’s Day person. I once got a phone though.

5. Celebrity crush?

Caren: Ah, I think the only celebrity crushes I have are Ibrahim Suleiman and Michael Jordan.

Victor: Nicki Minaj

Idowu: Nancy Isime anytime, any day!

Dr Ilori: Nope, don’t got one.

Ngozi: Davido

Abayomi: Ayra Starr

Mildred: Jon Bellion

Semola: RMD.

6. True love or 1 million dollars?

Caren: I’m an igbo girl o, so it will always be a million dollars.

Adedamola: True love

Victor: Shebi my babe won’t read this article? One million dollars abeg.

Idowu: Ah, 1 million dollars will take care of true love.

Dr Ilori: Gimme that money! Even true love will knock my head if I choose otherwise.

Ngozi: Omo, who love epp? One million abeg.

7. Office romance: yes, or no?

Caren: Never!

Adedamola: No please, even if he’s hot.

Victor: Ah, no. But if she has one million dollars, yes.

Idowu: 100% yes.

Semola: Yes o!
