First of all, I am thankful for my wife. It has been a year without me and she has been really understanding, holding the fort, and carrying on really well. I am thankful to my kids for also being very understanding.
I am also extremely thankful for the Transcorp Power team. I am extremely thankful for the bond we now have, the unity, and the team spirit. I am also thankful for how much the team has improved. I am thankful for the fact that the team members now pride themselves in self-improvement and that for me reflects our leadership. It’s been a challenging year but we’re still here and that is something to be thankful for.
2022 has taught me to be more resilient. It has given me the endpoint that there’s always room for improvement; that we can and should be better and this relates to various aspects of life including Nigeria as a country.
Though I do not have any Detty December plans. I will most likely spend a week with my family and then it’s back to work as usual. It is 24/7, 367 days on the plant. We have to be here. The peak of my year is work-related. GT15 and GT16 came back so that was the peak for me. For the pits, I would say, in March when we had protection issues and in August when we lost two units and those two events defined our performance, but it is what it is, the show must go on.
In 2022, the time I had with my family was very limited and I hope that in 2023, I can spend more time with my family. For work, we have done a lot. There is latent growth in terms of capacity and my hope and certainty for 2023 is that we will overcome the challenges we have now and see great improvement. 2023 will be a more consolidated year for us. The team will continue to grow.
