Birthdays are like new beginnings.

A pat on the shoulder, I must say, for all we’ve been through throughout the year. They are most times celebrated with enthusiasm and excitement. So, for my 21st birthday, I thought why not go out and experience something different! (Any excuse to eat out, I will take it LOL)

I stumbled on the restaurant on Google Maps and after reading a few reviews and looking up their menu, I was sold.

Name: HSE GOURMET

Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

About: HSE Gourmet is a gourmet-style comfort food restaurant, providing our taste buds with exciting new flavours. They offer cafe and dining experiences with a twist, for those up to the task.

Menu: The cafe has varieties of things to order, like breakfast and brunch options such as pancakes, sandwiches, and toasts. They also have burgers, tacos, salads, lots of starters, pasta, grilled meals, Asian dishes and so much more.

Experience: Excellent customer service. Superb food. Great ambience.

When I walked into the building, the first thing I noticed (as does everyone) was the great interior decor and cool ambience. The place was serene and inviting.

I ordered the Taiwanese Chicken Pho, which was absolutely perfect. The soup came in a teapot and was poured in to fill into the aesthetics of the restaurant. Next was the Korean Beef Bibimbap. I enjoyed it but it was also too salty/spicy. Would have preferred a bit less salt or soy sauce be added. I finished off my amazing night with their Bacon Mac ‘n’ Cheese. Honestly felt that this dish needed more spice, as it tasted bland.

In between my meals, I ordered water and a Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake. It felt heaven in my mouth. Words cannot fully describe how much I enjoyed it. Great job, HSE Gourmet!!!

Price range: 15,000 – 40,000 for a party of 2. Sha, get your pocket ready if you want to have a great time.

Added Advantage: The restaurant is great for families and kids. I went with my 11-month-old nephew and it was a breeze.

Parking: There isn’t much parking available but as someone who doesn’t drive, it wasn’t a problem for me.

Recommendation: I definitely recommend HSE Gourmet for anyone looking for exciting tastes. It was a welcoming experience, and I would love to go again. The Pho and Bibimbap are great options if you’re looking at Asian cuisine.
