Soft Life Diaries: Steak, Cocktails, and Controlled Chaos

Long time no write lol, life has been *life-ing, work has been working, and adulthood? Please, who designed this thing? Because it’s not for the weak.

But in between chasing targets, meetings, and trying to remember to drink water, I found time this Friday for something that truly matters, good food and soft life (they call me “Jesssica of the good life”).

So, let’s talk about “The SteakHouse Lagos” located at No 1 Karimu Kotun Street V.I.

First, walking in already sets the tone, you know you are about to spend money, but you are also ready to enjoy it. It’s giving “you deserve this” energy.

We started strong with a breadbasket (because what is fine dining without pretending bread is just “starter” when we all know it’s the main character if you are hungry enough and a bread lover like me). Warm, soft, and dangerously addictive paired with the garlic butter spread.

Next up, grilled calamari strips. Now, I have had my fair share of questionable calamari in life, so my expectations were managed. But this? This was different. Perfectly grilled, well seasoned, not chewy just right. It disappeared very quickly, which is always the best review.

Now let’s get into the main character moment.

My date ordered mashed potatoes with Ribeye and said, “why go to a steakhouse without eating steak?”  and honestly, I had to respect it. The Ribeye came out looking confident. Juicy, rich, and cooked to perfection (Medium rare) paired with creamy mashed potatoes that had no business being that smooth. It was giving I made the right decision.

Meanwhile, I took a different route and ordered the seafood pasta. Knowing that i will still eat part of that steak. lol and wow. The pasta was creamy, rich, loaded with seafood, and just the right level of indulgence. Every bite felt like I made the right life decision.

Now… let’s talk about the plot twist of the evening, the Creamy Tile cocktail, their signature drink.

First, it’s delicious. Almost too delicious. Smooth and easy to sip… and then boom! it reminds you it has a mission. It’s strong. The kind that sneaks up on you respectfully before you start wondering why everything is suddenly funnier than usual. lol

So yes, enjoy it, but be guided.

Overall, the experience? 10/10 for vibes, food, and that soft life feeling we are all chasing.

Would I go back? Absolutely! It was not my first time.

Would I order the same cocktail again knowing what I now know? Also, yes, why not, but this time, with awareness and maybe a backup plan. Lol

Overall, the experience was everything it needed to be, good food, great ambiance, and that subtle reminder that life doesn’t always have to be too serious.

And honestly, that’s the real message here.

Because at the end of the day, adulthood may be stressful, but at least we can eat well through it.

In the middle of deadlines, expectations, and everything else life throws at us, we must create moments like this. Go out. Eat good food. Laugh a little louder. Take a break from constantly being “on.”

Because mental health is not just about rest, it’s also about joy.

“Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause, breathe, and allow yourself to enjoy the moment you have worked so hard for.”

So, if you have been pushing nonstop, consider this your sign.

Unwind.
Step out.
Order the meal.
Drink the cocktail (carefully)lol.

Because adulthood may be ghetto sometimes… but at least we can eat well through it.

And on that note, i will leave you with this, work hard but don’t forget to live small small.

With love, soft life and just a little bit of controlled chaos.

Hugs.
