Ten Things to Take Away from President Macron’s Address To African Entrepreneurs
Africa’s young and brightest entrepreneurs are pushing the boundaries in entrepreneurship.
In an interactive session hosted by The Tony Elumelu Foundation on the 4th of July, 2018, 2000 young entrepreneurs across Africa sat in a dialogue with the President of the French Republic, H.E Emmanuel Macron, and Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings and Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
Moderated by serial entrepreneur, private sector magnate and Founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation, Tony. O. Elumelu, the dialogue centred on the ambitions and challenges of young entrepreneurs within the continent and the insights leveraged off President Macron and Tony Elumelu.
Here are ten short quotes we took away from President Macron:
Your nationality does not define your ability to succeed. Success begins in your mind.
To young entrepreneurs, I would say: Take a risk. There is no success without being a risk taker.
On Global Trade:
Trade war is focused on how to close countries and build walls. But doesn’t fix the problem.
As a Nigerian entrepreneur, you have a big advantage. Your market is huge.
I am a strong believer in ECOWAS and regional integration in #Africa.
On the Private Sector:
The Private Sector can provide better access to opportunities for people in Africa.
Nobody should decide for Africa. Africa must decide for herself. So it is time to take responsibility about the legacy we leave behind.
I am a strong believer in the African private sector.
The only way to succeed is to have a strong private sector. It is the only way to have sustainable growth.
Entrepreneurship and innovation are the answers Africa needs. Young people should be obsessed by innovation.
Never stop at your first failure. And always learn from them.
