Taking charge of your own health is important at any age and if you haven\u2019t been intentional about it before, it\u2019s never too late to start developing healthier habits.<\/p>\n<p>The following checklist provides a foundation from which to begin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Have regular check-ups, even if you\u2019re \u2018fine\u2019<\/strong><br \/>\nOne of the best ways that men can promote their own good health is to have a wellness check each year \u2013 regardless of age or health concerns. You won\u2019t get a \u2018hard guy\u2019 award for avoiding the hospital so keep tabs on your wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. See your doctor if something doesn\u2019t seem right<\/strong><br \/>\nBeyond regular check-ups. it\u2019s also important to see a doctor if you have noticed changes in your mood, sleep, bathroom habits, have a cut that doesn\u2019t seem to heal, or if you\u2019re experiencing unexplained weight fluctuations or sexual dysfunction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Know your family health history<\/strong><br \/>\nIf your dad or other family members have a history of chronic health conditions, you may be at higher risk for developing them too. Your doctor can help you develop an action plan to minimise risks and increase your chances of early detection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Check \u2018upstairs\u2019<\/strong><br \/>\nAs I mentioned earlier, we don\u2019t do \u2018hard guy ting\u2019 here. Mental health is important. Are you suddenly irritable or drinking too much? Are you paying attention to signs of stress, burnout, or depression? If you notice anything is \u2018off\u2019, it\u2019s time to get help.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Care for your prostate<\/strong><br \/>\nYour prostate grows as you get older and it almost certainly shows symptoms, like urinary problems. A healthy, low-fat diet can reduce the likelihood of prostate growth and may reduce the risk of prostate cancer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Vary your workouts<\/strong><br \/>\nYour body gets very comfortable when you always do the same workout, so you must keep varying your exercises. Employ an age-appropriate mix of aerobics, muscle training, and stretching.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Take breaks<\/strong><br \/>\nI know the dollar is rising and money must be made but rest is a requirement, not a reward. Taking time to chill (Reading, listening to an audiobook or podcast, or watching TV with your family and friends aren\u2019t just fun ideas; they\u2019re best practices that help you keep stress at bay.<\/p>\n<p>Is there more you can do?
