{"id":564,"date":"2015-09-29T19:22:45","date_gmt":"2015-09-29T19:22:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heirsholdings.com\/hhpeople\/?p=564"},"modified":"2015-09-30T16:51:51","modified_gmt":"2015-09-30T16:51:51","slug":"the-palette-when-tech-meets-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.heirsholdings.com\/hhpeople\/2015\/09\/the-palette-when-tech-meets-art","title":{"rendered":"The Palette &#8211; When Tech Meets Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By <strong>Obinna Okerekeocha<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5DPtqhvVJQ4\" width=\"854\" height=\"840\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Art and how it is showcased today has indeed come of age.\u00a0 This was made evident at an exhibition recently held at the Re.le Gallery, a contemporary hub for pure artistic expression, in Onikan Lagos.\u00a0 It was a duo show of breath-taking drawing genius &#8211; Soji Adesina and Uthman Wahaab.<\/p>\n<p>The body of work deconstructed the concept of how drawings interact with the gallery space.\u00a0 The drawings were rendered to exceed the boundaries of drawing surfaces, (paper &amp; canvass) traveling onto the walls of the gallery and into digital spaces \u2013 Samsung tablet devices.<\/p>\n<p>This innovative exhibition will be the very first time that interactions between both spaces would happen on such a large scale.\u00a0 Synergy already exists in other parts of the world with museums from New York to Venice engaging art work with tech devices. Now, Nigeria is catching up to the trend, thanks to Samsung and Re.le Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung, with its devices and Rele Gallery, in the art it showcases, are both committed to creative disruptions, initiatives and projects that engage people, change the way we see, think \u2013 and this collaboration is one of such. A collaboration \u00a0showcasing the boundless possibilities that exist when the paths of technology and art cross.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside this exhibition was an art creation contest that was thrown open to artists all\u00a0across Nigeria. I decided to come up with something a little bit different.\u00a0 I created a video called \u2018Mind Space\u2019, teaming up with a colleague of mine who\u2019s not afraid to latch on creative challenges, the tireless &amp; savvy\u00a0 Tope Adubi.\u00a0 I put it in not knowing how it would be received.\u00a0 The D-day came and my video was best in that category and I was 3rd overall in the competition.
