And so, in the spirit of Christmas generosity, here are ten of my favourite Christmas movies:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/heirsholdings.com\/hhpeople\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/holiday-movik.jpeg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3606\" src=\"https:\/\/heirsholdings.com\/hhpeople\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/holiday-movik.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"184\" height=\"273\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Love Under The Mistletoe (Romance) \u2013 <em>The Holiday<\/em> (2006)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For some, the Christmas story represents the greatest love story ever told \u2013 a God whose love for the world was so great that He sent His only son to earth. In a similar vein of love is the movie, <em>The Holiday<\/em>, featuring Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz as two women who, after suffering similar heartbreaks, simultaneously take the decision to move across the pond for the Christmas season.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Come for the movie stars and lush visual aesthetics, stay for the snow-melting romance.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>See also<\/em>: <strong><em>The Last Holiday<\/em> (2006)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/heirsholdings.com\/hhpeople\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Charlie-Brown.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3607\" src=\"https:\/\/heirsholdings.com\/hhpeople\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Charlie-Brown.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"182\" height=\"268\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>A Christmas Classic (Classics) \u2013 <em>A Charlie Brown Christmas<\/em> (1965)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It is the rare movie that captures the different facets of the Christmas spirit \u2013 joy, peace, family, giving and hope \u2013 so fully to become beloved and entrenched in the imaginations of people of all ages. These rare movies become as timeless as your favourite Christmas carol.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t let the release date and animation scare you off! The central issue this movie addresses \u2013 the commercialisation of Christmas \u2013 is as timely now, even more so now, as it was in the 60s. Yet the heart-warming message and the happy ending (not to mention its killer Christmas jazz soundtrack) of this movie will guarantee a re-watch next year, and the years after.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>See also<\/em>: <strong><em>It\u2019s A Wonderful Life<\/em> (1946)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/heirsholdings.com\/hhpeople\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/naughty-2003.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3608\" src=\"https:\/\/heirsholdings.com\/hhpeople\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/naughty-2003.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"182\" height=\"268\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Santa\u2019s Naughty List (Dark Comedy) \u2013 <em>Bad Santa<\/em> (2003)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Let\u2019s face it, some of us are bound for Santa\u2019s naughty list \u2013 inadvertently or not (<em>see: the lady who cheated on a list of 5 movie recommendations for the Christmas season<\/em>). If you find yourself on the naughty list, don\u2019t worry it is always more fun on this side. As film buffs learn in Movies 101 \u2013 everyone loves a good villain!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Billy Bob Thornton stars in this dark comedy as a cantankerous mall Santa with a proclivity for stealing and a heart of gold. This movie should serve as evidence #1 when we make the case for Santa to create a separate naughty but nice list.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>See also:<\/em> <strong><em>Grinch<\/em> (2018) <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/heirsholdings.com\/hhpeople\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/home-alone-2.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3609\" src=\"https:\/\/heirsholdings.com\/hhpeople\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/home-alone-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"184\" height=\"274\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>\u2018Tis the Season to be Jolly (Comedy) \u2013 Home Alone 1 &amp; 2 (1990 &amp; 1992)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Comedy does not necessarily come to mind when one thinks of the Christmas season, however these movies will have you laughing so hard your cheeks become as red as Rudolph\u2019s (melanin notwithstanding!).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nothing says family quite like forgetting your youngest son at home as your family rushes to catch a flight to Paris. Luckily for viewers, this conceit sets up what is \u2013 in my humble opinion \u2013 one of the funniest movies of the 90s. Kevin McAllister\u2019s antics may have inspired one or two childhood hijinks and his triumphs was probably the first clue for millennials that adults are <em>maybe<\/em> not as smart as they pretend to be.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>See also:<\/em> <strong><em>This Christmas <\/em>(2007)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/heirsholdings.com\/hhpeople\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/nativity-story.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3610\" src=\"https:\/\/heirsholdings.com\/hhpeople\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/nativity-story.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"189\" height=\"266\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>The Reason for the Season (Faith Based) \u2013 The Nativity Story<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For those of us who grew up in the church (and even for some who didn\u2019t), the nativity story is a tale as old as time \u2013 the story of Joseph, Mary and little Jesus born in a manger; the magi who, after seeing his star, brought gifts and worshipped him; the threat from Herod when he hears about the birth of the Messiah.
