March is traditionally Women’s History Month so HH People has decided to celebrate with an all-female edition of this column.<\/p>\n

Since March is also, Lent, HH People went across the group to ask this ensemble their favourite things to do while staying true to the purpose of Lent.<\/p>\n

Once a week<\/p>\n

After an intense day of work in her capacity as Entrepreneurship Programme Analyst at the Tony Elumelu Foundation, no one can deny Miss Anozie her right to indulge herself whenever she feels like at the brand-new Hard Rock Cafe that’s getting all the attention, for the right reasons. Great food and great service too.<\/p>\n

So much so that while she will be reducing her trips to the cafe to bask in its warm embrace and take in the familiar flavours of her favourite cocktail, she just cannot give it up. Lent or not.<\/p>\n

On a sunny afternoon, would you rather go swimming or to the beach?<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I would love to go to the beach”, says Adaeze. “But I would rather go swimming as its convenient for me”, she ends. Bikini alert, people.<\/p>\n

“I’m still fairly new to Lagos so there are many places I’m yet to visit.”<\/p>\n

“So far I really like Bistro 7 for brunch\/cocktails and Izanagi for sushi.”<\/p>\n

True to the name of her workplace, Adanna is as competitive as the next (wo)man on the street and when Lagos drivers try to take your spot in traffic or dent your lovely little car, road rage is permissible. Or not.<\/p>\n

Either ways, Miss NCCN will be giving up road rage for Lent, alongside packet juice but not her new hangout\u00a0spots. “I’ve only been a couple times to both places and I am\u00a0not giving them up for Lent :)”, she says defiantly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I’d rather go to a nice beach on a sunny afternoon because of the scenery. I’m not that great of a swimmer so the ambience and scenery of a beach keeps me occupied.” Back to the wardrobe goes that\u00a0hot bikini then.<\/p>\n

Kehinde insists she’s just a typical wife and mom without any real hangout spot. “I rush home every day after work to supervise my kids homework and make dinner for my husband. We eat out sometimes and have quite a few favourites. I like Sky Lounge at Eko Hotel, Talindo Steak house, the restaurant at Wheatbaker or good old Chinese at ChinaVille. My favourite for local food is definitely L\u2019afric!”<\/p>\n

Favourite spot: <\/strong><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t have any favourite meals but I like to try out new meals as much as I can.<\/p>\n

For Lent, Kehinde’s morning ritual of a hot cup of coffee will have to go – “That\u2019s a big deal for me.”<\/p>\n

On a sunny afternoon, would you rather go swimming or to the beach?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019d say go swimming. I have never been a beach fan. It\u2019s just never been interesting to me. I prefer swimming and that will definitely be my preferred option.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Oyinda is not Catholic, so\u00a0\u00a0“Lent to me is all year round not just 40 days in a year. Christianity involves constant checks and abstinence and rechecks as your relationship with God grows. So that means sometimes you stop doing things even though you are not fasting.”<\/p>\n

Whenever she is fasting, she cuts down on secular music and listen to Christian songs. Does all Davido or Bryson Tiller and no Donnie McClurkin or Yinka Ayefele make Oyinda a —– girl?\u00a0“Listening to Christian songs feed my spirit so I listen to more messages and stuff that will feed my spirit”, she clarifies.<\/p>\n

She admits that her outings may (or may not) be reduced.<\/p>\n

On a sunny afternoon, would you rather go swimming or to the beach?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I’d choose the beach because\u00a0I love the beach and find it very calming”. Great choice.<\/p>\n

Favourite Hangout:<\/strong> Vintage, Amuwo Odofin, FESTAC. “It\u2019s an open space hangout and I mostly have a really cold Chapman drink whenever I hang out there. There is always some entertainment in form of dance shows or comedy and that\u2019s why I love it.”<\/p>\n

Favourite poison:<\/strong> Movies. “I love my movies; I buy them, I go to the cinema, I google great movies and I write them down as things to watch once.<\/p>\n

Despite a busy work life and what she describes as ‘goofing around’ with her 8-month old daughter, she finds time to visit Vintage at least once a week. And no, she won’t be giving that up for Lent. Remarkably, it will be movies that will be excised..and a few other thousand things.<\/p>\n

“I will also be giving up snacking before 12 pm on weekdays. [This Lent], I find myself more serene, meditating more and responding less to barbs from friends or at work.<\/p>\n

“Maybe two years ago, I would have preferred swimming but now I prefer the beach. I\u00a0love the humid wind blowing in my face and how I feel free when my feet is dug into the wet sand. You can do practically anything at the beach.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
