I used to think confidence came first and action came after. It made perfect sense in my head. Surely, the people who took on bigger responsibilities already knew what they were doing. The more I have grown, the more I have realised how untrue that is.
\nLooking back, I cannot think of many opportunities that arrived at the perfect time. They usually came disguised as unexpected responsibilities. A project that stretched me beyond what I thought I could handle. A task I had never done before. A decision I was suddenly expected to make. None of those moments came with a guarantee that I would get everything right. They simply came with a choice: I could either wait until I felt ready or accept the challenge and learn along the way.<\/p>\n
Interestingly, the confidence I was waiting for never showed up beforehand. It appeared afterwards. It came from trying, making mistakes, asking questions, improving, and discovering that I was capable of more than I had given myself credit for.<\/p>\n
I have come to believe that this same mindset quietly shapes the way many of us approach investing.<\/p>\n
A lot of people want to invest, but they are waiting for the “right” moment. They want a higher salary, more savings, better knowledge of the market, or a little more certainty about what tomorrow will bring. Those reasons sound sensible, and in many cases, they are. The challenge is that there will almost always be another reason to wait.<\/p>\n
Investing does not require you to know everything before you begin. It requires a willingness to learn, ask questions, and make thoughtful decisions with the information available to you. Every experienced investor was once a beginner. The difference is that they chose to start.<\/p>\n
