Business Day Lists Tony Elumelu as Top 50 Most Influential Nigerians in 2017

The board of editors at BusinessDay have released a list of top 50 most influential Nigerians in the year 2017 with the Chairman of Heirs Holdings and Founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation, Tony O. Elumelu CON, on the list. Other business and political leaders that made the cut include the President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, among others.

Tony Elumelu was listed as the voice of entrepreneurship across the continent.  “He is increasingly becoming  Nigeria’s  most sought-after speaker on the international circuit as he preaches entrepreneurship as a  solution to high poverty rate on the continent.  The  Tony  Elumelu  Foundation  (TEF),  US$100  million  Entrepreneurship  Development Programme has become the biggest direct intervention in building Africa’s future entrepreneurs. Already in its 4th cycle, ab3,000 African start-ups have benefited from the training and networking opportunities offered by the programme as well as the  US$10,000  start-up capital,” the report read.

According to Business Day, the list was a reflection of the year 2017 highlighting individuals, who through the position they hold or by their actions have had an influence on the country in different ways. The individuals all had some significant influence on how the country shaped out in 2017 and many of them are still influencing how it is shaping out in 2018.
