BCIU Annual Dwight D. Eisenhower Global Awards Gala Honours Tony O. Elumelu, MFR, CON with Global Entrepreneur Award

On December 4, 2017, BCIU will present the Dwight D. Eisenhower Global Entrepreneur Award to Tony O. Elumelu, MFR, CON, Chairman of United Bank of Africa and Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, and the Global Leadership Award to John Willard Marriott, Jr., Executive Chairman of Marriott International during the BCIU Annual Dwight D. Eisenhower Global Awards Gala in New York, USA. The Award honours Elumelu’s contribution to the development of entrepreneurship in Africa through his impactful foundation – The Tony Elumelu Foundation.

Launched in 2015, The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme is the largest African philanthropic initiative devoted to entrepreneurship and represents our 10-year, $100 million commitment, to identify and empower 10,000 African entrepreneurs, create a million jobs, and add $10 billion in revenues to Africa’s economy. So far, the programme has incubated 3,000 entrepreneurs from 54 African countries.

The Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) is a nonpartisan, U.S.-based organization that works to expand international trade and commerce. It does this by helping its member companies engage internationally and by facilitating mutually beneficial relationships between business and government leaders worldwide. With 200 member companies, including many Fortune 500 firms, BCIU also offers government officials a forum for engaging multinational enterprises as they promote international trade and investment.
